Spiced Roasted Chickpeas & Bye Bye Fruit Flies
My stress level was definitely higher than normal the past few days so any average pest felt like an overwhelming annoyance. The swarm of fruit flies in the kitchen that gorge on ripe tomatoes and plums all day? Gone. I couldn't take them any longer. I've shared my fool proof solution below.
Spiced Roasted Chickpeas
1 can rinsed chickpeas
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon cumin
1 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
I wanted these to have flavor and spice but not heat so Dylan could eat them. However, chili powder or cayenne would be great in here.
Pre-heat oven to 400. Whisk spices into olive oil and toss chickpeas with the mixture. Arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes, shaking the chickpeas around 30 minutes in.
paper cone coffee filter
3 tablespoons dish soap
3 tablespoons white vinegar
Snip the bottom of the cone coffee filter to create a hole. Next, mix dish soap and vinegar in mug, add a splash of water. Place filter inside cup and leave it next to fruit. For some reason, the flies are attracted to the mixture and dive right in. Wahooo!
